Open the box. Stand the bag upright somewhere out of direct sun, between 15 and 24 degrees. Cut nothing, add nothing, spray nothing. When mushrooms appear, twist them off. That is the entire instruction set and it fits on the card in the box.

Nothing. The bag has a filter patch that runs the gas exchange and a substrate that already holds all the water the flush needs. Misting an intact bag does nothing except wet your shelf. Every kit that asks you to mist is asking you to fix a problem it created.

A kit is parts and a job. This is a finished block. It is inoculated, grown out and fully colonised here before it ships, so the work that a kit hands to you has already happened. There is nothing to assemble and nothing to get wrong.

Blocks leave Grand Rapids Monday to Wednesday so nothing sits in a depot over a weekend. Order before 11am ET on a Wednesday and it goes that day, otherwise it goes the following Monday.

Yes. Every block on this site is a gourmet or functional culinary species that is legal in all fifty states. There are no restrictions and no age gate on this line.

We watch the forecast on your route. If your week looks like a problem we email you and hold the block rather than cook it in a truck. You can also ask us to hold at checkout in the notes field.

Between four days and three weeks depending on species. Oysters are quickest, Shiitake is the slowest and browns over first, which alarms people and should not. Every product page gives that species' honest window.

First flush figures on each product page are the honest average, not a best case. A 5 lb chestnut block averages around 900g on flush one, and most blocks give two or three flushes.

Almost always temperature. Under 15 degrees a block stalls rather than dies. Move it somewhere warmer and give it another week. If it still does nothing, email us the order number and a photo and we replace it.

Stop, do not open it, photograph it through the plastic and email us. Green is trichoderma and it is not fixable at home. We replace contaminated blocks with no argument, and we would rather you did not open the bag first.

Yes, and you still do nothing. Harvest by twisting rather than cutting, leave the block alone, and it returns in one to two weeks. Flush two is usually about sixty per cent of flush one.

It is spent substrate and it is excellent for a garden bed or a compost heap. Cut the plastic off and bury the block. Some people get an outdoor flush the following spring by accident.

Paper bag in the fridge, never plastic, never washed until you cook them. Oysters keep four or five days, chestnut a week, Lion's Mane about three days before it yellows.

Photograph the box and the block and email help@tellymonstermyco.com with the order number within seven days. We replace it. We do not ask you to ship anything back, because posting a broken mushroom block back to Michigan helps nobody.
